The old woman finally caught me

But what about my mother?

But I'll just up home with my father

But I miss I said a girl I know

And then her pale green eyes did glow
And she placed her hand on mine

And as her cold tongue flicked for my throat

I made a dime for the passageway
And the walls came tumbling down
And now her eyes were the only light
That my favorite brain could see
And I tore myself away from them
And I fell down on my knees
I've come too far and I can't get back
I besieged all the gods of men
All I heard were them laughing me
And then silence once again

And then a whisper deep within
Embraced the god of love
I lifted my face and threw the tears I saw
A light fall from above
I hurled myself into the wall
I ripped and clawed my way
Through the stinking, clinging long
I'll do the light of day
I crawled into the wind again
With the sky at home my face
I heard the earth sigh patiently
As it slid back into place
So now I'm back among the ones
I love and I'm loved and turned
And it's only on the darkest nights
That the green-eyed memory burns
So walk my friends in the light of day
Don't go sneaking round no hole
There might be something down there
